A Poem by Jessie Peterson

There was silence in the air,

An empty feeling of nothing,

A snowy feeling of shivering coldness,

Time passing by so slowly,

And then eventually the sunshine is up,

An odd unfamiliar feeling,

The feeling of insanity,

And thoughts and mindlessness,

The dusty air passing through time,

And then it’s all over and done with.

Inspired by page thirty-seven

of Ray Bradbury’s

Fahrenheit 451
